Leah Compagnino

ACA-Registered Counsellor and Provisional Psychologist

BSc(Psych), GradDipPsych, MCouns, MProfPsych

I am an ACA-registered counsellor who is experienced in working with children, adolescents, and adults in community and private settings. I have worked in the out-of-home care sector and in family services organisations. I have also facilitated parent and adolescent groups, with a focus on emotion coaching and mindfulness-based practices. I enjoy working with a range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress, family violence, interpersonal issues, emotional difficulties, and trauma. A particular area of focus and interest is working with individuals who have had traumatic and challenging experiences, who are looking to work through these issues in a supportive and containing environment.

I adopt a trauma-informed and collaborative framework when working with clients across the lifespan. I use a range of techniques in my work, including cognitive behavioural therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy, person-centred therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, and adapt my approach to the needs of each individual. My aim is to provide a patient, warm, and safe space for clients to be able to achieve their therapeutic goals.

As a trained Tuning In To Kids and Tuning In To Teens facilitator, I also run this group program for parents who are interested in learning about how to better understand the emotional needs of their children and adolescents.

I am currently registered with the Australian Counselling Association and I have provisional registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
